Air quality alert issued due to extreme heat

NORWALK - Residents in southwestern Connecticut say they dealt with the extreme heat this afternoon as best they could, while still bracing for several more days of high temperatures.

The National Weather Service says temperatures reached into the 90s today and that temperatures are expected to reach back into the 90s tomorrow.

The agency issued an air quality alert for today, which means ground-level ozone in the region might approach or exceed unhealthy standards.

Doctors say people need to stay hydrated, drink plenty of fluids and seek shade when possible.
