STAMFORD - A New Jersey man was arrested Friday morning after police say he sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl at a home in Stamford.

According to police, Alberto Garrido, 29, was staying at a friend's home to help with some carpentry work when he allegedly crawled into bed with the friend's daughter.

The girl pushed him away and told her mother, who called police. Garrido left the house and began to walk to the Stamford-Darien border. He was detained by a Darien police officer.

News 12 Connecticut was told by investigators that there was a 5-year-old in the bed as well.
