Amity H.S. students take to YouTube to condemn hate crime

WOODBRIDGE - Students at Amity High School have condemned a possible hate crime that took place on their school's grounds by posting a video on YouTube.

Students say over the spring break, a homophobic slur was spray painted on a boulder on school grounds, referred to as the "Amity Rock." In response, students from the high school made a YouTube video, condemning the act and appealing for tolerance and an end to bullying.

The rock has since been painted over in rainbow colors, as a sign of solidarity with the gay community. Students also discussed the incident in advisory groups at school.

No suspects have been named, but police say they are investigating the incident as a hate crime.
