DARIEN - WCBS 2 morning anchor Rob Morrison resigned from his job today after being arrested for allegedly choking his wife in Darien.

Morrison issued a statement today saying, "My family is my first and only priority right now and I have informed CBS 2 management that I need to put all of my time and energy into making sure that I do what's best for my wife and my son. I very much appreciate the opportunity that CBS 2 has given me and I thank them for accepting my decision."

Police say the news anchor tried to strangle his wife early Sunday morning at their home on Hollow Tree Ridge Road.

The judge ordered Morrison yesterday to stay at least 100 yards away from his wife Ashley.

Ashley Morrison is an anchor for CBS MoneyWatch.
