STRATFORD - Local animal shelters have been at near capacity for many months and now they say donations have been declining as well.

Stratford animal control officers blame the economy on these problems that animal shelters are facing.

?It seems as soon as we adopt out an animal, two more come in,? animal control officer Rachel Solveira says. ?It?s never ending at this point.?

The shelters that have been full since the spring hope that the animals find new homes, but ask residents to be cautious when giving a pet as a gift. They say that a majority of those pets eventually end up back at the shelters.
