NORWALK - Thousands of southwestern Connecticut residents attended the Veterans Day parade in Stamford Sunday.
People gathered to pay tribute to the men and women who have served in the armed forces. Many residents marched in the parade, including high school students in the marching band, members of a motorcycle club and people dressed as soldiers from the Revolutionary War.
Some veterans chose to participate, like Jim Fasoli, who served during the Vietnam War. He rode along in a truck reminiscent of the one he used during battle. Other veterans, like Jim Socci, come to the parade every year to honor fellow veterans.
This year?s grand marshal was 86-year-old Leonard Pagliano, who served during World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Pagliano was also nominated for Veteran of the Year back in March. He was awarded a silver star for his five campaigns since World War II.
