AP source: Man tied to Pakistan sought in NYC car bomb case

NEW YORK - (AP) - Two law enforcement officials say thatauthorities have identified the buyer of the sport utility vehicleused in the botched Times Square bombing and are seeking him as apotential suspect.

One of the officials tells The Associated Press that thepotential suspect is a man of Pakistani descent who recentlytraveled to Pakistan.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because the caseis at a sensitive stage.

The officials say the man is a Connecticut resident who paidcash weeks ago for the SUV parked in Times Square on Saturday andrigged with a crude propane-and-gasoline bomb.

An official says the car's last registered owner toldinvestigators he sold the 1993 Nissan Pathfinder to a man he didnot know three weeks ago.
