Armed robbers strike at Fairfield Inn

FAIRFIELD - ? Police say an armed robbery took place late Sunday night at the Fairfield Inn.

The robbery took place in a stairwell at approximately 11:30 p.m. Police say three men were involved.Officials say the men approached two people that were returning to their room. One victim was confronted and assaulted; the other was held at bay with a handgun. According to police, one of the victims was struck in the head several times with a metal baton. Police say $600 in cash and a cell phone were taken. Police say they do not believe the incident is related to a recent robbery of the nearby Circle Diner. Officials say they are currently looking at surveillance video from the hotel to get a better description of the suspects.
