BRIDGEPORT - A man from the Bronx is in custody tonight for allegedly sexually assaulting a University of Bridgeport student.

Police say they have charged Jarrell Brandon, 21, with first-degree sexual assault on an 18-year-old victim. She says the incident happened in a Bodine Hall dorm room on University Avenue.

According to court documents, the victim told police that Brandon held her down during the assault and she asked him repeatedly to stop. Police say Brandon told them he believed it was consensual.

A spokesperson for the school says Brandon is a student who also works seven hours at the university as an academic coordinator.

Brandon is scheduled to appear in court next week.
