Arson ruled in Stratford fire

STRATFORD - Stratford firefighters say a fire that damaged a home Saturday was intentionally set.

The fire marshal says it looks like someone broke a window into an apartment and threw or poured something inside that started the blaze, which happened at a complex on Columbus Avenue.

Investigators say three people were inside, but were not hurt.

Firefighters claim that if they were dispatched even three minutes later, they could have been investigating the deaths of the people who escaped.

The Red Cross is assisting the family, as well as the one that lives next door, as their unit was heavily damaged by smoke.

If you have information about who is behind the blaze, please contact the Stratford Fire Marshal at (203) 385-4073 - . You can also call the News 12 Connecticut info line at 203-354-INFO.
