STAMFORD - AT&T has withdrawn its application to build a new cellphone tower in Stamford, says Mayor David Martin.

The city's Environmental Protection Board had several concerns with the proposed location on West Hill Road - including the potential of damaging nearby wetlands.

The mayor tells News 12 Connecticut that neighbors are happy with the outcome.

Mayor Martin says this is a very rare occurrence, because the Connecticut Citing Council almost always awards companies permission to build cell towers.
