BRIDGEPORT - An attempted robbery at a Bridgeport market last night led to a wild shootout between the robbers and the store owner.

Sammy Ghalayini, who owns Nick's Grocery on Fairfield Avenue, says two men entered his store with guns blazing last night at around 7:20 p.m and demanded money. He says that he instead drew his 9 mm pistol and opened fire on the men.

Ghalayini says he wasn’t hit in the shootout, but he believes he shot one of the robbers because there was a small amount of blood on the sidewalk.

So far, no arrests have been made.
