FAIRFIELD - A Fairfield man who filed a lawsuit to evict his elderly mother from the home she has lived in for decades is dropping the suit, his attorney says. Mary Kantorowski says her son, Peter, gave her eviction papers on her 98th birthday. She says he gave her two options: move into a nursing home or live with him. She and her other son, however, argued that she had every right to stay where she was. After the house was turned over to her son, it was reportedly agreed that she could stay there until she dies. Peter Kantorowski has said he's only concerned for his mother's safety, but the story captured national attention that generated donations for Mary's legal defense. Now that the suit has been dropped, all sides involved say they're relieved that the family feud won't be playing out in a courtroom.
