STAMFORD - An autopsy has been ordered for the fetus found at Stamford's wastewater treatment facility on Saturday.

The state medical examiner said that the fetus, which was about 4 inches long, would not be able to survive on its own. Police are awaiting the results of the autopsy before moving forward with an investigation.

Mike Troutman was the man who found the fetus while sorting through trash collected from the incoming sewage. He says that while he usually finds various things, he?s never found a fetus.

Officials at the treatment facility say that other wastewater treatment facilities have had fetuses show up, the Stamford facility has never had one show up.
