NORWALK - A Norwalk man accused of turning his barbershop into a front for prescription drug peddling denied the allegations Friday.
Wallace King, the owner of King Barbershop on Main Street in Norwalk, is facing nine drug charges after narcotics detectives raided his store Thursday, seizing 50 Oxycontin and oxycodone pills.
The raid was the result of a six-month undercover investigation involving confidential informants.
Arrest papers say undercover police informants went to the barbershop twice and bought illegal prescription drugs from King. The informant was wearing a surveillance wire both times.
They also say police investigated another worker at the barbershop, but so far no one else is facing charges.
King insists the police have the case all wrong, saying the painkillers are for injuries from a motorcycle accident a year ago.
