BRIDGEPORT - Officials say the need for federal funding is even more crucial now that the Barnum Museum in Bridgeport estimates it needs $6 million to repair structural damage to the building from June's tornado.

Executive Director Kathleen Maher says the estimate tripled after structural engineers determined the winds actually twisted the dome slightly. She says in order for the building to be stable, support beams must be installed on the third floor.

Maher says it is too difficult at this point to say when the museum could reopen.
