(07/16/10) NORWALK - Lifeguards and safety officials are warning beachgoers in southwestern Connecticut to avoid jellyfish at all costs.

Lifeguards at Calf Pasture Beach say the jellyfish are here a little earlier than usual, so swimmers need to pay attention to the waters.

A jellyfish sting is usually extremely painful and sometimes life-threatening. An emergency specialist says those who have symptoms of a sting should flush the site with vinegar and it could help prevent the toxin from entering your skin.
