NORWALK - New traffic signs in Norwalk have been installed to help keep bicyclists safe on city streets.

The signs were paid for by the Sound Cyclists Bicycle Club, which says everyone needs to be a little more careful on the road. They remind drivers of a state law that requires them to allow 3 feet of separation when passing a cyclist on the road.

“If the cyclist has to move out so far that a motorist needs to cross over the double yellow lines, I’d say they ought to wait a second or two,” says Geoff Preu, president of the Sound Cyclists Bicycle Club.

The signs were installed along Calf Pasture Road in East Norwalk, and will be up on other streets soon.
