BRIDGEPORT - Bishop of Bridgeport William Lori addressed parishioners today on the heels of being named the 16th archbishop of Baltimore by Pope Benedict XVI.
"I'm obviously grateful to the Holy Father for entrusting me with the stewardship of the great Archdiocese of Baltimore," says Lori.
Lori will now oversee more than half a million Catholics in America?s oldest diocese. Lori says that despite the joyous news, he will miss the diocese he has called home for the past 11 years.
Church officials say that it could take up to six months for the pope to name a bishop to lead the Diocese of Bridgeport.
