WILTON - Wilton officials are searching for a black bear that was spotted several times this morning.

Department of Environmental Protection crews are combing the area looking for signs of the bear.

One person reported hitting the bear with their car on Belden Hill Road. It has also been spotted at two other locations.

News 12 Connecticut was told by officials that it is mating season for black bears and they have been seen passing through this area before.

Anyone who spots the bear is urged to call the Department of Environmental Protection at 860-424-3011 or Wilton police at 203-834-6260.
