Blaze destroys part of Bridgeport apartment building

BRIDGEPORT - A fire destroyed part of an apartment building at 340 Putnam earlier today.

Bridgeport Hospital is reporting that two residents and one firefighter were hospitalized. Two had minor injuries, but one woman remains in critical condition.

The fire chief says it took nearly an hour to bring the blaze under control and fire marshals are still investigating.

About 20 people are homeless tonight and are being put up at local hotels by The American Red Cross.
