Blown transformer causes power outage in Stamford

Connecticut Light & Power says more than a thousand customers lost power overnight in Stamford when a transformer burst into flames. The transformer explosion happened

STAMFORD - Connecticut Light & Power says more than a thousand customers lost power overnight in Stamford when a transformer burst into flames.

The transformer explosion happened on Northill Street and knocked out power around 1:40 a.m.

Everyone's power has since been restored.

There is no word on what caused the explosion.
