HARTFORD - Connecticut's senior senator is renewing his call for the federal government to address what he says is an extra dangerous form of alcohol.

Powdered alcohol is expected on store shelves as early as this summer, but Sen. Richard Blumenthal says he has some real concerns.

Blumenthal is now calling for a federal ban on powdered alcohol products, which come in packages that look a lot like children's drinks.

He says teenagers "can snort it, sneak it into school activities much more readily, and of course, spike drinks."

In a YouTube video, "palcohol" creator Mark Phillips points out that it can only be sold in licensed liquor stores to people 21 and over.

Federal regulators approved "palcohol" last year. Several states have already banned or regulated powdered alcohol.
