FAIRFIELD - The Board of Selectmen in Fairfield has selected Thursday, Aug. 12 for a referendum vote on a $350,000 bond issue to pay for the building of a girls? softball field.

The field, which will be located on Hoyden?s Lane, has already been approved, but the vote will be on whether the city will pay for its construction.

Selectman Ken Flatto says the board estimates that the bond will cost taxpayers approximately 90 cents a year for 20 years.

He also says that 8,400 people must vote against the issue in order to stop the bond from being approved.
