STAMFORD - The bomb squad was called to Fairway Market in Stamford Sunday evening after a suspicious package was found in the supermarket's parking lot.

Police say they got a phone call from store managers who reported a large suitcase appeared to have been left in the parking lot intentionally. The bomb squad checked out the suitcase and determined it was not explosive.

Fairway and the other stores in the shopping plaza remained open during the investigation. People who had parked their cars near the suitcase had to wait until crews cleared the scene.
