SHELTON - Officials at Shelton High School sent students home early and canceled all after-school activities today after a note was found in a hallway saying there was a bomb in the building.

Police say a teacher found the note late this morning and gave it to the school's headmaster, who notified police.

Students waited to be picked up as police and members of the state bomb squad combed the hallways searching for anything suspicious.

School officials say they don't know if the threat was real, but they have to investigate thoroughly regardless.
