BRIDGEPORT - Officials broke ground today on a long-awaited revitalization project for Bridgeport's coastline.

Crews began work today on the Steelpointe Harbor redevelopment project. Officials say workers will make roads more pedestrian- and bike-friendly. They will also be performing work on sewers and burying power lines.

Steelpointe Harbor will also feature a hotel and retail shops, including a Bass Pro Shops.

The city received an $11 million grant to help with the project.

Work is expected to take about one year to complete.
