BRIDGEPORT - Bus drivers in Bridgeport say they are being forced to speed up their routes making it unsafe for riders.

Union workers with Local 1336 took to the streets in protest yesterday over recent service cuts, layoffs and the use of unsafe equipment.

Bus drivers in the union say they are concerned the tight service schedule is forcing them to speed.

Workers say they are trying to come to an agreement with transit authorities to get new equipment and a new contract.
