BRIDGEPORT - Now that winter is officially here and temperatures continue to dip, animal advocates want to remind residents to bring their pets inside.

Officer Jimmy Gonzalez heads up the Bridgeport Animal Control office, the biggest municipal shelter in the state.

He says every winter people forget to bring their furry friends indoors at night when temperatures dip below freezing.

Gonzales says if you do leave your dog outside for security reasons be sure it has a proper dog house that's insulated and a heated water bowl.
