Bridgeport cannibal Tyree Smith found not guilty by reason of insanity

BRIDGEPORT - The man accused killing a homeless man in Bridgeport and eating parts of his body has been found not guilty by reason of insanity.

A three-judge panel deliberated for an hour yesterday.

They say prosecutors proved Tyree Smith killed Angel Gonzalez in 2011.

The judges will meet again in September to decide if Smith should be committed to a psychiatric hospital.
