BRIDGEPORT - A hazardous cleanup company in Bridgeport is helping to clean up the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Joe Palmieri, owner of Connecticut Tank Removal, says he has sent nearly a mile of boom already to the region. Boom is utilized to contain the spill and protect areas from the oil. Styrofoam fills the boom, enabling it to float. It doesn't need to be inflated and can go into the water right away.

Palmieri says he was also asked to help out-of-state after Hurricane Katrina.
