BRIDGEPORT - Neighbors on Wallace Court are in disbelief this evening after a house went up in flames this morning, leaving only the shell left.

Fire officials say everyone in the house, including two children, were able to escape.

The fire started around 1 a.m. this morning and officials say the family is fortunate that the smoke detectors were working when the flames erupted.

Investigators have yet to release the cause of the fire. One firefighter suffered burns to his face, ears and hands but is expected to be OK.
