HARTFORD - Gov. Jodi Rell has delayed a vote on a proposed Bridgeport juvenile detention center that had been scheduled for Friday.
Instead, she's given the city one month to find a suitable alternative to the planned Virginia Avenue location before a vote by the State Bond Commission.
The delay comes after Park City officials and residents held a protest at the state Capitol saying they were opposed to the plan.
The group called "De-Rail The Jail" claims the city was not properly informed of the plans until recently and that more public hearings are necessary.
