Bridgeport kidnapping suspect due in court

BRIDGEPORT - The woman accused of kidnapping a baby from a Harlem hospital in 1987 and raising her in Bridgeport as her own is due in court today.

Ann Pettway surrendered to Bridgeport police yesterday morning. Police say Pettway was spotted Saturday afternoon at Joe Davis Pawnbroker trying to sell a laptop and jewelry.

Pettway is suspected in the abduction of Carlina White back in 1987. White, who lived under the name Nejdra Nance tracked down her real mother earlier this month.

Bridgeport police say Pettway was likely looking for help in the Park City.

The FBI says Ann Pettway is in custody on a parole violation charge and more charges are expected.
