FAIRFIELD - A Bridgeport man is facing charges after police say a Fairfield couple saw him break into their Brooklawn Avenue home on Monday.

Officers say Eugene Marrero, 28, had a backpack stuffed with latex gloves and a knife, and got into the home through a kitchen door.

They say the homeowners confronted Marrero and chased him to Bassick High School where they flagged down a nearby officer for help.

Marrero is charged with burglary and possession of a dangerous weapon.
