BRIDGEPORT - Today marks the one-year anniversary of the tornado that ripped through Bridgeport. Officials estimate the tornado caused nearly $5 million in damage to businesses.

The St. Charles Borromeo Church at 391 Ogden St. has been aiding victims for the past year by offering food, clothing, work and shelter. It has also helped to keep the church running as it was scheduled to shut down for lack of attendance, but that has changed since the tornado. A special ceremony was held at Washington Park to commemorate the anniversary of the tornado.
