Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim has appointed his former police chief, Wilbur Chapman, as a special advisor on public safety.

Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim says he is bringing back his former police chief to be a part of his staff.

Ganim says Wilbur Chapman will be a special advisor on public safety.

Chapman served as chief from 2000-2005 during Ganim's prior administration.

Former Mayor Bill Finch extended the contract of current Police Chief Joseph Gaudett just days before leaving office.
