BRIDGEPORT - Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch and his son are being credited for fending off an alleged attacker outside a Fairfield Avenue bodega yesterday.

Finch's son, Peter, says they were driving down the road when he spotted a man being beaten and kicked in the head.

Peter says without hesitation his dad sped up to the scene, threw on his flashers and confronted the suspect.

Police say they arrested 30-year-old Chirstopher Lewis a few blocks away at Park Avenue and Vine Street, while Finch's son called for help and waited with the victim.
