Bridgeport Mayor Finch: City is safe

BRIDGEPORT - Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch assured residents today that they are safe following the arrest of Times Square bomb suspect Faisal Shahzad.

FBI agents served search warrants today on Shahzad?s home on Sheridan Street. Twelve surrounding homes were evacuated for approximately two hours during the raid.

Finch says he has been in close contact with Gov. Jodi Rell and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg. He says he also received information that the suspect attended the University of Bridgeport at one time.

Mayor Finch says he plans to visit members of the city?s faith-based communities tomorrow.
