BRIDGEPORT - Today is Read Across America Day - and schools across southwestern Connecticut are participating.

Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch read the Dr. Seuss Classic The Cat in the Hat at Geraldine Johnson Elementary.

Many students say they love reading and try to do it every day, though they admit it is easy to get distracted with all the gadgets and electronics available today.

Teachers say the best advice for keeping kids interested in reading is let them read whatever they like.
