BRIDGEPORT - Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch is working to give the public more access to early education.

He was at the Connecticut State Capitol in Hartford Wednesday, urging the House of Representatives to pass the Early Childhood Education Bill. The bill was passed by the Senate on Friday.

Supporters say the measure would expand access to pre-K for more than 4,000 children statewide over the next four years.

The director at St. Paul's Childhood Development Center in Bridgeport says the legislation would not only give more kids access to this program, it would give pre-K teachers their first substantial pay raise in years.
