BRIDGEPORT - Bridgeport, Milford and five other school districts around the state are splitting $250,000 to cover expenses from Hurricane Sandy.
Classes in Bridgeport and Milford were canceled for a week after the storm so schools could be used as emergency shelters.
The state Department of Education says the funds will cover transportation, counseling, security and other costs related to using the schools as shelters.
