Bridgeport murder victim laid to rest today

BRIDGEPORT - A Bridgeport man was laid to rest today, eight days after being gunned down outside his girlfriend's home.

Police say Larry Acevedo, 25, was shot to death on Capitol Avenue with his girlfriend as a witness. Authorities say Randy Dixon of Bridgeport fired at Acevedo following an argument.

Family members say Acevedo was trying to overcome a troubled past and rise above a chaotic childhood. They say he wanted to be an electrician.

Police arrested Dixon one day after the murder. He is being held on a $1-million bond.
