Bridgeport murder victim laid to rest with community's help

BRIDGEPORT - The family of a Bridgeport man shot to death two weeks ago finally laid him to rest this morning after postponing his funeral due to a lack of money.

David Munford, 28, was fatally shot outside his home on Sixth Street two weeks ago. During the services at Paterson's Funeral Home on Noble Avenue, he was remembered as a soft-spoken man who loved his family and was a big fan of the Miami Heat.

Munford's family says it was heartbreaking to put off his funeral because it couldn't afford it, but that it is grateful for all of the donations that began pouring in.

City leaders say the services were a great example of the East End community coming together to help a family in need.

Police say they are continuing to investigate Munford's murder.
