BRIDGEPORT - The licensed practical nursing program at Bullard Havens Technical High School in Bridgeport has been shut down due to budget cuts.

It's one of 10 such programs in Connecticut that's been eliminated because of the state's budget crunch.

Bullard Haven's LPN program director Karen Ivers say the move will be devastating to a state already facing a nursing shortage.

A spokesman for the governor says the state may consider reinstating the program once the economy recovers.
