BRIDGEPORT - Bridgeport state Rep.-elect Christina Ayala is being investigated by state elections officials for possible voter fraud.
The Elections Enforcement Commission is investigating whether Ayala committed voter fraud by improperly voting in a district where she did not live.
Ayala is also involved in two separate court cases; one involving leaving the scene of a car accident and another over a domestic dispute.
Questions have been raised about where she actually lives following her arrest earlier this month in the domestic dispute. She allegedly gave police a different address than the one she used to register as a candidate.
The commission is also investigating Ayala's mother, who is the city's Democratic registrar of voters. It wants to know if she failed to perform her duties in regard to her daughter's registration.
The commission's investigation wouldn't have a direct impact on Ayala's ability to serve, but it could lead to fines.
There is no timetable for the investigation to be completed, but it will not be done before Ayala is set to be sworn in on Jan. 9.
