BRIDGEPORT - Bridgeport residents will pay more in taxes after the city council approved the new mill rate on Monday.

Taxes will go up $123 for the average Bridgeport homeowner.

That is $400 less than the increase Mayor Bill Finch proposed in April.

The city council says that difference is acceptable because the General Assembly approved more than $7 million in grants for the city in Monday night's budget vote.
