BRIDGEPORT - Bridgeport police are searching for an armed suspect this evening after he reportedly attempted to hold up a convenience store. Authorities say it happened at the Beechmont Minimart at around 1 p.m. The store's owner, Mohammed Wafin, says he knocked away the suspect's arm and tackled him to the ground before he left the scene. Witnesses say a woman and three younger men escaped in a black four-door Pontiac with clear windows and a license plate number starting with the number 8. As News 12 Connecticut has reported, Wafin also shot and wounded a man who tried to rob him at the same location in 2008.
