Bridgeport police continue search for carjacking suspect

BRIDGEPORT - Police say they are still searching for a suspect who carjacked a van while an 89-year-old woman sat in the back seat yesterday.

Police say Dorthea Knoll, and her caretaker, Beverly Galvin, were in a red Ford minivan at around 1 p.m. yesterday on Hawthorne Street when the incident happened.

Galvin says she left the van running while she dropped something off and a man jumped in the car and took off with Knoll inside.

Police tell us a patrol officer spotted Knoll unharmed and alone in the van more than two hours later.

Anyone with information is urged to call police at (203) 581-5201.
