BRIDGEPORT - Bridgeport police met with members of the city's Black Rock neighborhood this evening after several burglaries and shootings have marred the community. Police say a string of armed robberies and the fatal shooting of a dog on Harbor Avenue prompted them to hold the meeting. Residents spoke about their safety concerns, and some say they hope officials can reverse the current trend in violence. "We are afraid," resident Janitza Espejo said. "We can't be afraid. We all have to stand up, stick together and make a difference." Police are urging residents to call them at 1-203-581-5100 if they see anything suspicious.
